The Stonewall Anthem

Atreyee Banerjee

For love is love,
And 'tis the rainbow month,
The multi-hues of the pride flag,
Hoisted high in June,
Where voices unheard and secluded,
And shadows long, where fears intruded,
The light now breaks the heavy gray,
To guide the lost along the way.

From hidden rooms to open air,
A chorus rises, strong and fair.
No longer hushed, no longer bound,
The pulse of truth begins to sound.
So let the rainbow catch the breeze,
Across the cities, lands, and seas.
This month of Pride, let voices ring,
For love is a fearless, beautiful thing

For nature carved it fine,
The six bright colours shine,
For Wilde and Waters,
For Whitman and O'Hara
Wrote in golden letters,
Love is love
